About the Course

After taking this course, you will be able to:

 

  • Better understand the history of mental illness and the diagnostic process.
  • Cultivate a greater understanding of the criteria and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Differentially diagnose ADHD, bipolar disorder, and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder.
  • Understand the criteria and effective diagnose schizophrenia spectrum disorder and depressive disorders.
  • Differentially diagnose bipolar or depressive disorder with psychotic features from schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders.
  • Develop a greater understanding of the criteria and diagnosis of anxiety disorders.

Faculty

Shawn Lawrence is an associate professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida. She is a licensed clinical social worker and holds a Ph.D. in social welfare with an emphasis in behavioral health from the University at Buffalo.

 

Reshawna Chapple is an associate professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida. She is a licensed clinical social worker and holds a Ph.D. in justice and social inquiry from Arizona State University.

 

Linda Manning is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. She is also adjunct faculty in the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida.
