  • Explain the ethical considerations involved in maintaining professional boundaries in virtual settings.
  • Describe challenges and strategies for maintaining privacy and confidentiality in telecare.
  • Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate professional interactions in virtual platforms used for social work.
  • Differentiate between boundary exploration, risks involved, and the consequences of boundary crossings or violations within virtual social work practice.
  • Identify strategies and approaches for repairing boundary crossings to maintain professional integrity and promote client well-being.

Faculty

Sarah E. Meisinger is a licensed independent clinical social worker at St. Cloud State University’s counseling center. She completed her undergraduate degree in social work at St. Cloud State University and holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of St. Thomas. Meisinger has experience working in healthcare, education, nonprofit, and human service settings. For the past 15 years, she has taught social work courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at St. Cloud State University and Augsburg University. Meisinger’s areas of specialty include crisis assessment and response, veteran’s issues, trauma, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ concerns. She is the author of Stories of Pain, Trauma, and Survival: A Social Worker’s Experiences and Insights in the Field.
